Keller Williams To Purge Thousands of Agents

It has been rumored for some time now that Keller Williams has a large amount of Ghost agents. What is a Ghost agent? Good question these are agents that no longer work for the company due to various reasons including death. The purpose is to keep agents on their rosters when they no longer work there is to show that they are larger than they actually are. Statistically it has been stated that Kellers Williams has about 30% Ghost agents around the Country and that can change numbers significantly.
Keller Williams has about 180,000 agents Nation Wide while Re/Max has 85,0000 and Realogy hass 145,000. When Keller Williams purges its agents it will show a different picture. It looks like they would lose their number one spot in the marketplace.
“A former franchise owner at Keller Williams told Inman the practice of inflating agent count by leaving “ghost agents” on the rolls was rampant and persistent.”
The question is, is this the way to build a culture that will develop and train Real Estate Professionals where they can have a lifelong career? How are agents empowered to achieve their best when the company they work for misrepresents who is actually working there? “Focusing on agent count has always been a part of Keller Williams culture and started their march towards becoming the No. 1 real estate company.” But, are they really the biggest Real Estate Company or is it just a deliberate attempt to gain number one spot in a very competitive industry.
